This rare hand blown iridescent, art glass vase sits on 3 iridescent balls catches different light rays. At any angle with stunning effects. Measures: 5 3/4" tall, base 3", Balls diameter 1 1/2. W/o any chips, nor breaks, the base is grounded, there are scratches at the base as expected for age. Imperfections like small bubbles are present. Please check on the connection between the vase and one bubble Questionable chips and mended or glued. Please check photos for further evaluation. This iridescent decor from Harrach is called Glatt Iris.
The invention of hot-shaped iridescent glass from Harrach is attributed to. Pantocsek, the Technologist at J. Zahn Glassworks in Zlatno, Slovakia. Zahn presented iridescent glass at the 1873 Worlds Fair in Vienna. Harrach shared a great deal of interest in mastering the technique of Hot Shaping iridescent.
Production began around 1875-76 and continued into the early 1900's. Glatt Iris is one of the very first ones produced.
