Victorian Period Consolidated Glass Pickle Jar, Derby Silver Plate Stand & LID
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a nice Victorian Period Derby silver plated pickle castor stand with Consolidated diamond quilted glass insert, c. Stand measures 8 1/4" high and 8 1/2" wide.
The pickle jar insert measures 3" high, 4 1/2" overall width with the top measuring 3 1/4 in diameter. Combined weigh is 1.10 pounds. The silver stand is decorated with an elaborately engraved band around the outside rim of the stand's "bowl" and the outside border is also engraved. The handle is a twisted design with two bands with one being plain silver and the other being a rope design. The stand has a pedestal base that also has a matching engraved design to that on the bowl's outside rim.
The pickle jar's lid has a very elaborate engraved design with a fancy finial and a design around the upper border that matches that on the base of the stand. The pickle jar was made by the Consolidated Glass Company in a pink satin diamond quilted design. There was a group of coordinating items made by Consolidated in this pattern. Also marked "EPNS" for electro-plated nickle silver and Wm. Mounts probably for the retailer.
Derby was one of the original companies to form International Silver in 1898. The silver plated stand is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws, however, it could use a good polish, if desired. The Consolidated glass insert is also in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other noted flaws.
