Victorian Midwest Pomona Floral Enameled Art Glass Water Pitcher
Here is a wonderful Satin Diamond Quilt Water Pitcher decorated with enamel florals. This is a 7 tall Water Pitcher. The maker is unknown but for years it's believed to have been made by New England Glass. It was around the same time New England Glass was making their Pomona line c. This type of art glass incorporates all of what was being made during this time. Satin finish, enamel florals, Amber Staining, elaborate creations of a twisted rope design that was applied around the neck and then attached as a handle. Artist signature prunts were placed at the ends of the rope attachment. Artists would do this to identify the pieces they worked on and to show the quality of their skill as a glass handler. At 130 plus years old it's a true antique. No chips or cracks and no stains or mineral deposit. There is some very minor ware to the florals. On the top ruffled edge there is an Amber Stain.
There are two tiny crease indentations as shown in the photos. These were done during manufacture. The pontil is ground and finely polished. Any unusual white or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare.
Ware on the bottom is commensurate to it's age. This will make a great functional accessory to any Victorian home.
