Victorian English Art Glass Vases Applied Ruby Green Vaseline Leaves
This is a beautiful and remarkably rare pair of English Victorian Art Glass Vases. Attributed to Hodgetts or Bolton & Mills ca.
These beautiful vases are 5 1/4" tall and 4" across the bottom. The glass is flint quality. They are made of White Opal or White Custard glass lined with Pink glass. The applied leaf is made of a Ruby glass center stem with Vaseline glass and Green Vaseline glass. The pontil was snapped off and warmed in.
The top has an applied Green Vaseline glass edge with two points pulled down. Both vases fluoresce beautifully under a black light. The weight is quite substantial for their size at 1 lb.
The contrasting colors are truly beautiful. At well over 120 years of age, they are true antiques. They are in perfect condition with no chips or cracks and stains or mineral deposit. Any unusual white or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare. This will make a great accessory to any Victorian home.
Note: Each vase is slightly different. One has the leaf with a vaseline color on top, and one has the leaf with the vaseline color on the bottom.
