Victorian Art Glass Ruby Lidded Bowl Applied Ruffle & Finial 1880's Gorgeous
Today we're offering a gorgeous, Victorian ruby art glass bowl, circa 1880's or 1890's. We're not sure who the maker is. The hand-blown glass is ribbed providing beautiful optic and has a bit of a ring to it. There are many bubbles and imperfections in the glass. The lid looks to be ruby- stained although the bowl appears to be cased or flash.
There is a pontil scar. The applied, crimped ruffle and finial are highly UV reactive and light up bright green! We apologize for not being able to take a decent picture of it, you'll have to take us at our word. 5" tall and 7.5" wide (measuring along the outside of the ruffle diagonally).
There are some really tiny chips to the rims and a chip on the very top of the finial. We don't find any chips on the ruffle however there is a spot where the ruffle doesn't quite attach to the bowl and it looks like a "blob" of glass was applied to the area to secure it perhaps? We don't know if that was done during the making of the piece or afterward.
