Victorian Art Glass Basket Opal Pink Lined Vaseline Handle Wishbone Trail

  

This is a beautiful Victorian English Art Glass handled Basket. 5 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" in diameter. Attributed to one of the better glass houses of England during the Victorian era. Shown in Victorian Decorative Glass British Glass by Mervyn Gulliver, and dated to the 1890's. This beautiful constructed handled Basket took some skill to make. The glass is flint quality and quite heavy for it's small size which is typical of early English production. It's made of white opal glass and pink lined. The base has four wishbone style feet each of which is decorated with a pincered Daisy design. The applied handle is Vaseline and has crimped pincered Daisy on the attachment areas which is very Unusual. The pontil is snapped off as was described by Mervyn. It's in perfect condition with no chips or cracks and no stains or mineral deposit. At well over 120 years of age, it is a true antique. Any unusual white or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare. This will make a great accessory to any Victorian home.
