Victorian Antique Webb Burmese Toothpick Holder Glass Heavy Enamel Décor Vase
VICTORIAN ANTIQUE WEBB BURMESE TOOTHPICK HOLDER GLASS HEAVY ENAMEL DÉCOR VASE. A beautiful Victorian antique art glass toothpick holder, or possibly a miniature vase. Regardless, I had this as part of my toothpick holder collection and as you can see in my photo of this pictured next to a container of toothpicks it works well size wise. It was made by the firm of Thomas Webb and Sons in England after 1886. The glass is known as "Burmese" for its lovely and distinctive peach to cream shading of colors and its matte finish, and it glows an intense whitish-yellow color under a blacklight. It is decorated with very attractive 100% hand painted heavy enamel white and blue flower blossoms and brown leaves. It has a bulbous shaped body and a top that flares out into a six-point shape top rim. It has a concave ground and polished pontil mark on the underside. It has been part of my personal collection since the year 2005. This is an exceptionally well made and decorated piece and is a very high-quality piece of art glass. The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive. Please be sure to read the. In the 2003 book Mt. Washington Art Glass and Webb Burmese: Identification & Value Guide by Betty B. Sisk, I see two similarly decorated pieces on pages 61 and 70, but nothing with this same shape, so this may be a rare shape. I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from over 40 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. It is in near pristine original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs to the glass, and no obvious signs of use. I see only some extremely light age-related signs of use or wear to the hand-painted decoration and the underside where the piece sits. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
It is about 2.625" (6.6 cm) in diameter at the widest point of the body and stands about 3" (7.6 cm) tall. About 4.5 ounces (127 grams).
