Victorian Antique Art Glass Phoenix Amberina White Opal Coinspot Pitcher Scarce
Here's a pretty art glass 8 3/4 tall pitcher. This beauty is quite scarce to find if not rare. I've only seen a couple in 30 years.
Made by the Phoenix Art Glass company around 1885. The pattern is known as Phoenix Coinspot.
At well over 100 years old it is a true Antique. The beautiful contrasting colors are the reason for it's rarity. This Pitcher was very labor intensive to make. There are two different heat sensitive types of glass used that required multiple trips to the furnace for striking the different colors.
No damage or heat checks of any kind. The pontil is finely ground and polished. No chips or cracks and no mineral deposit. As with all this type of early art glass there may be tiny bits of carbon dirt or tiny embedded air bubbles. There may be small surface scratches resulting from normal ware of well over 100 years use. This pitcher is very clean inside with no stains or mineral deposit. Any unusual white spots shown in the photos are from camera glare. This is a real beauty. This will make a great functional accessory to any Victorian home.
