Rare Mt Washington Crown Milano CIGAR HUMIDOR Oak Leave & Acorn Decor
RARE MT WASHINGTON CROWN MILANO CIGAR HUMIDOR DECORATED WITH OAK LEAVES & ACORNS DECOR. This gorgeous Victorian art glass decorated vase was made by the Mount Washington Glass Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, circa 1880s-1890s. The company originated in Boston in 1837 as the New Bedford Glass Works. Libbey in 1870 and moved to New Bedford, when the company was renamed the Mount Washington Glass Works. In 1876 it was reorganized and renamed the Mount Washington Glass Company, which was its name until 1894, when it merged with the Pairpoint Mfg. Company, a renown maker of silver. This humidor is Opal (white milk glass) with a washed background of Autumn colors, decorated with lovely Oak leaves and acorns adorning the circumference of the humidor and it's lid. CIGARS is gilded in textured gold on the front. Inside it still retains it's original humidifying sponge. Lovely gold toned hardware, and it's in fantastic condition! The base is marked with the typical Mt Washington Crown Milano numbering still intact. The Mt Washington Oak Leaves and Acorn decor is one of my favorite, it doesn't come around often, and this is the first Mt Washington cigar humidor in this decor I've seen. Mt Washington cigar humidors are quite rare, no matter what decor they carry, but this one is a real beauty! CONDITION: No chips, cracks, scratches, sickness or repairs, it is in excellent condition. REFERENCE: Page 89, 117 & 123 of Mt. Washington Art Glass by Betty SIsk shows Crown Milano biscuit jars with the same decor, albeit not nearly as nice.
