Antique Amphora Vase with Lustres. Dimensions are approximately: diameter at the top: 12cms (4 5/8 ins). Diameter at the base: 15.5cms (6 1/8" ins) height: 31cms (12 1/8" ins) This is a unique item... Could be European as they also produced a lot of ceramic Amphoras and hand decoration was very popular. There is a lot of wear to the base indicating a good age. The vase is decorated with a charming landscape scene of a bridge over a brook surrounded by trees and woodland... This is hand painted and possibly the artist used their own garden or favourite spot for inspiration. This era did produce a lot of hand painted decorated items... Often a group ladies would get together and enjoy their genteel pastime of painting china tea sets and ornaments. Rural scenes of animals, landscapes and flowers were very popular. There is additional hand decoration of pink and turquoise enamel with gold art nouveau detail. The vase is further embellished with eight lustres around the rim. The simple straight lines of the twin handles evoke a touch of the early'arts and crafts' characteristic design. As the years pass, these lovely items become more precious... More photos available on request. Excellent/Very good antique condition commensurate for age and use. Some aged hairlines to the vase but no structural damage, just natural age and wear. Some crazing in areas, nothing major... No fractures, chips or discolouration.

One has the teeniest fleabite to it's corner... Some fine occasional crazing, nothing to spoil the vase. A few teeny pink enamel dots at the base missing.

Hand painted scene very good, also the hand painted enamel decoration (pink & turquoise) generally very good. No chips, a couple of very fine and small hairlines to the base...
