These are 9 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" across the widest part. There is light white paint behind the birds.
I think it was supposed to represent water. It is contained to the cartouche area and the birds were painted on top of this.
So, whomever painted these, put that there intentionally. He thought it was put there when packed, not so and clearly photographed. See condition above and photos for further details.
