Phoenix Art Glass Cased End of Day Water Pitcher/Ewer-Victorian-Multicolor
Phoenix glass company of Philipsburg, Pennsylvania has come to be known as one of the finest art glass producers of the late 1800s here in North America. Their products are highly sought after and collected because of the striking beauty and originality of their items. The company produced an almost unlimited variety of water pitchers in a number of shapes as well as patterns.
The glassworker really elevated his game when producing this masterful art glass example. Besides the beautiful combination of colors, a very fine rippled effect was incorporated into the outer layer, highlighted by the opaque white interior. The water pitcher is finished off with a beautifully executed ribbed handle. A polished pontil visible on the bottom, albeit a portion feels slightly rough due to its initial size from the production process. The piece stands approximately 8" tall and measures 6 1/2" from spout to back of handle.
In factory original condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. The inside is basically clean showing no staining or residue from use. I will mention and as pictured some interior bubbles can be viewed on the outside sandwiched between the two layers of glass from the production process. This is standard for art glass produced during this era. What a colorful example to brighten your room. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future.
