Pairpoint Art Glass Wedding Bell-Opaque withAir Twist Ribbon Handle-Deco Victorian
The Pairpoint glass company has a long rich history dating back to the middle part of the 19th century. After 1900, the Pairpoint manufacturing corporation known for quadruple plate silver merged with the Mount Washington glass company to form a single firm in New Bedford, Massachusetts. During the first quarter of the 20th century the company became known for producing exquisite lamps as well as other fine art glass examples. One such item created were these large glass objects known as wedding bells.
The company designed numerous sizes and shapes in all colors of these bells. With an opaline base, a beautiful air twist ribbon design encased in clear glass makes up the handle.
This handle is attached to the base with the use of plaster of Paris; a commonly use method of attachment in early art glass production. This bell also has its original clapper as seen in several of the pictures. The shape and design depict an art deco influence. The veil stands 11 5/8" tall and measures 4 3/4" diameter across the base. Pristine condition showing no post factory damage or repairs. The clapper moves freely and the bell rings beautifully. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future.
