Mt Washington/Smith Brothers Columbian Expo 1893 Santa Maria Decorative Plate. Finely hand decorated Mt Washington lusterless white plate or plaque, adorned with a beautifully painted depiction of the Santa Maria, reading "Santa Maria" at the bottom.
According to Wilson and Spillman in volume 2 of Mt Washington and Pairpoint Glass and based on information from Carl Fauster, author of Libbey Glass Since 1818, the plate was manufactured by Mt. Washington Glass Company and decorated by Smith Brothers for Libbey Glass. These do not seem to come on the market all that often: a very nice item.
