Mt. Washington Shakers withOriginal Rare Glass Holder 1 Unfired Burmese 1 Opal
MT WASHINGTON DECORATED SHAKER SET WITH 1 UNFIRED BURMESE SHAKER & 1 OPAL GLASS SHAKER. This beautiful matched pair of Victorian art glass salt & pepper shakers were made by the Mount Washington Glass Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, circa 1880s-1890s. The company originated in Boston in 1837 as the New Bedford Glass Works.
Libbey in 1870 and moved to New Bedford, when the company was renamed the Mount Washington Glass Works. In 1876 it was reorganized and renamed the Mount Washington Glass Company, which was its name until 1894, when it merged with the Pairpoint Mfg.
Company, a renown maker of silver. This set features two egg shakers, one is apparently unfired, or semi-fired Burmese, as it posses the Burmese coloring inside and out. It's further enhanced with a salmon colored wash at the top, and both shakers are beautifully decorated with lovely delicate Forget Me Not flowers around the shakers. What sets this set apart is that it has it's original GLASS BASE. You see these show up on a regular basis in various silver plated metal bases, but the glass base is quite rare. The shakers are in excellent condition, the enameling is strong, the lids are in great shape with a nice patina, and the glass base is pristine, no chips whatsoever. There are a few fleabites as we normally find around the inside rim of the shakers where the lids screw on, but overall this set is in outstanding original condition! The shakers are 2-1/2" tall, and the glass stand is about 5" tall.
