Moser Bohemian Glass Cranberry and Gilt Hand Painted Portrait Vases circa 1880s
WE OFFER A PAIR OF MOSER BOHEMIAN GLASS VASES WITH HAND PAINTED PORTRAITS OF TWO LOVELY YOUNG WOMEN. THE VASES ARE HAND BLOWN CRANBERRY GLASS WITH GILT TRIM AND DECORATION. THE PORTRAITS ARE HAND PAINTED ON WHITE OVAL GROUNDS.
EACH VASE IS MARKED WITH 6. IN GILT ON THE BASE. THE VASES MEASURES 12" IN OVERALL HEIGHT, 3 1/8" IN DIAMETER AT THE TOP, 3 1/8" IN DIAMETER AT THE BASE, AND 3 1/4" AT THE SHOULDERS. THE PORTRAIT MEDALLIONS MEASURE 3 1/16" BY 2 7/8". THE VASES ARE FREE OF CHIPS, CRACKS, BREAKS OR REPAIRS. EACH VASE HAS A RED AND WHITE LABEL HANDWRITTEN WITH "FREDERICK AVES GRANDMOTHER 3-3-43".
THE AVES FAMILY WERE AN OLD OHIO FAMILY WITH DESCENDENTS LIVING IN GALVESTON AND HOUSTON, TEXAS. TWO OF THEIR FIVE CHILDREN GRADUATED AS DOCTORS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MEDICAL BRANCH IN GALVESTON, TEXAS.
