Lobmeyr Harrach Iridescent Glatt Iris Enamled Art Nouveau Soap Bubble Glass Vase
This Bohemian art glass vase with decorative applied rope handles is blown of colourless glass with a rainbow "soap bubble" iridescent finish is hand painted with geometric motifs. Made for Lobmeyr from Harrach. This iridescent decor from Harrach is called Glatt Iris. The invention of hot-shaped iridescent glass from Harrach is attributed to Chemist, Leo V. Pantocsek, the Technologist at J. Zahn Glassworks in Zlatno, Slovakia. Zahn presented iridescent glass at the 1873 Worlds Fair in Vienna. Harrach shared a great deal of interest in mastering the technique of Hot Shaping iridescent. Glows a tad bit of green under a UV black light. The rim is 3 diameter.
