This is the real deal... This lamp was in my husband's grandmother's home during his entire childhood until she passed away.
The electric lights worked back then but the wiring is very brittle and unsafe at the present time. The top globe and chimney are replacements. The top globe is 7 inch diameter and has a small crack as can be seen in the photos. The base is iron and about 9 3/4 inches across (diagonally). The base was painted Gold on the outside but is Cast Iron not Brass.
The main (original) original globe is about 8 inches in diameter and 12 inches in length. (Hight) The lamp stands 31 inches tall to the top of the chimney and 19 or 20 to the base of the chimney.
The oil reservoir is 4 3/4 inch diameter, 3 3/8 inch tall to fill cap and looks to be in restorable condition or rewire and use with lights. The threaded connecting rod is steel and about 10 inches long. The Chimney is 12 inches long (high). This lamp was probably burning oil when Grant took Richmond. We will be much more negotiable with buyers that live near to Kaufman Texas. This lamp might have been burning oil when Grant took Richmond. Already packed 22"X20"X19 20 pounds.
