Fenton extremely rare 10 Blue Opalescent Dot Optic or Coinspot Vase, ca. 1939
Here's an extremely rare item by Fenton. It's called Dot Optic by the Fenton Art Glass company, and is also known as Coinspot by collectors today. Fenton made very few Dot Optic pattern items. This is the 10 Flared Vase that was made around 1938 to 1939. This shape is shown in several places in Fenton The Second 25 years by William Heacock. It is the shape # 894 shown on pages 70, 91, 94, and 98. This shape was made in Spiral Optic Opalescent in 1938 and 1939, but is not shown anywhere in a Dot Optic pattern. There is mention on page 97 of an Unusual Opalescent Assortment and these were listed as very rare when the book was published back in 1980. Notice the Dot Optic vase. Dot Optic was made but very rarely. This 10 Flared Vase, as the shape was called by Fenton, is in perfect condition. There are no chips or cracks, and no stains or mineral deposit inside. This beautiful Blue Opalescent Vase is Vintage, and not signed and has no pontil. Ware on the bottom is commensurate to it's age. Any unusual white spots shown in the photos are from camera glare. If you collect Fenton rarities, don't pass on this one. This will make a great accessory to any Victorian home.
