Bohemian 13MANTLE LUSTER. Gilt Gold & Ruby. 5 Prisms. Enameled Florals. Antique

Item under consideration is a Vintage, BOHEMIAN MANTLE LUSTER. Luster stands 13 inch tall and is Ruby Red in coloration with gilt gold scrolling and white florals. There are 6 1/4 inch long, 2-piece, crystal spear prisms (8 locations, only 5 prisms) attached to bottom of bowl. Luster body is intact, no chips or cracks.

There is some lose of gilt gold in the decorations. The luster can be viewed as three parts. The 5 inch tall bowl with scalloped rim.

There are alternate three 3 1/2inch wide and three 2 1/8 inch wide scroll designs positioned in the center of the circumference of the bowl (total of 6). The 3 1/2 inch wide scroll design contains 3 raised white florals with 6 leaves (photo# 1 & 4). The 2 1/8 inch scroll design contain a gold diamond crosshatch design (photo# 2 & 3), there is loss of gold gild.

The 5 1/4 inch stem containing gold trim at the top and gold decorations with orange inserts (photo# 5 & 6). The 2 1/2 inch base contains three handprinted white flowers with gold trim equally spaces around the base center. Between the flowers are handpainted gold scrolling with orange inserts (photo# 7). Fabrication design concept of the Luster was to. Accommodate lighting by candle, because electricity was not yet commonly available at the time of fabrication. The center body of the Luster is hollow to accommodate water, the candle end is inserted in the water tube, which extinguished the candle when the flame burned low. Diameter, across rim- 6 5/8 inch. Diameter, across base- 5 5/8 inch. Weight- 3 pound, 0.6 ounces.
