Wave Crest Biscuit or Cracker Jar Description and Item Information Up for sale is this beautiful Wavecrest biscuit jar. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This jar has floral decoration on the front and back. This piece has a silvertone metal rim, handle, and lid. To the top of the handle when it is extended, this piece stands approximately 11 1/8 inches tall.
It is about 6 1/8 inches tall to the top of the jar's rim. The maximum width is approximately 6 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 2 pounds 4.6 ounces. This would be a lovely addition to a collection of art glass. Identification This piece is unmarked, but it is attributed to Wave Crest based on marked examples of the same shape that I found online.
Per Kovels, Wave Crest glass was manufactured by the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and also by some French factories. The pieces were decorated by the C. Monroe Company of Meriden, Connecticut.
The name "Wave Crest" was used after 1898. The exact age of this jar is not known. Condition This piece looks very good overall, with no chips or cracks. The metal components are shiny, except for a thin ring of tarnish to the interior mouth rim of the jar; I've never seen metal parts on one of these that were so shiny, but that is just how it was when I bought it. As found, there is a white residue adjacent to the metal rim, likely some kind of material used to it (please see example in Photo 7).

I do not know if this is original. The lid has very minor edge denting, which does not detract. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. And international government regulations prohibit such behavior.
