The magnificent hand blown bold green glass vase features charming hand painted in white scene, depicting elegantly dressed boy. The vase was hand blown from the bottom and then cut from the top, the rim is polished but still a bit rough, also a few bubbles can be seen inside the glass, confirming that the piece is the early production and made in Europe. Mary Gregory is a type of glass that is easily identified. It features white scenes painted on clear or colored glass as the decoration, and on the early pieces white decoration creates a cameo effect (as on this vase). The decorating scenes were usually children at play. The first Mary Gregory glass was made about 1870. The early pieces were made in Europe, later ones also in America. The vase is as seen in the photos. 8" tall and 2.9" across the top. The antique Victorian Mary Gregory green glass vase is in very good condition with very minor signs of age. Most of our items are in excellent or very good condition (unless otherwise specified). We provide very fare descriptions.
