Antique Victorian Cobalt Blue Ruffled Art Glass Silver Plate Bowl Brides Basket

  

This is an absolutely incredibly beautiful 1800s Victorian art glass bowl. This appears that it was originally a brides basket, the handle seems to have been broken off a very long time ago. The ruffled glass bowl measures about 10 inches across and its hard to capture just how deep blue this royal color is in photographs.

It sits on top of a lead/pewter base that would have originally been silver plated but the silver plate is long gone after this many many years of its a long life. It could be easily removed and re-plated if you desired. There is white caulking visible underneath that has been used to hold the glass to the base, this is water-soluble and falls apart easily. The glass itself is in remarkably excellent condition with its hand painted gold decoration. There are no chips or cracks in the glass.
