The artist first drew the outlines in charcoal then painted. As you can imagine, it is hard to paint in reverse! When we took off the rough hewn boards on back, we found that the glass was frosted. A mauve colored paper board had been placed behind the glass.

A soft mauve color permeates through the glass. If you's like, you can change your back ground color to fit your decor. We just love the way the soft color works so well with the apple blossoms. We also found an original archival aged piece of beige silk fabric. Has original antique glass with lots of imperfections which is so nice!

The original gilt gold frame is very ornate. Signed with the initials of the artist "E D S", reversed.

Pretty white, pink and reddish pink flowers with vibrant green leaves and a brown stem. Realistic and well done by this artist.

Frame is good for the most part. There are spots where the gesso has fallen off and gilt gold paint has been used to fill in the spots. Antique frames are fragile, especially this large size, so please handle with care. If a piece gets loose, it can be re glued easily.
