Antique Tall Silverplate Centerpiece Bowl Stand 15 Unique Victorian Classical
Offering a tall silverplate centerpiece stand made circa 1890 by Rogers, Smith & Co. Measures 9" across the top ring and 4 1/4" across the inner (base of bowl) ring. Made of metal plated with silver, it has a classical style creatively designed to give an impression of modernism. The base is decorated with a frieze of nude warriors fighting. The arched double stem displays applied fern leaves, two long ones and two short, that twist around the stem. The stand also has three decorative accents, two glass balls on chains and a pendulum hanging from the center. At the top is a bowl ring which sits on four arms shaped like palm leaves. Marked on the underside with stamp for the Rogers, Smith & Co Silver Company, New Haven, Connecticut. This mark was used between 1877 and the 1880s. The two longest fern leaves have missing tips so they do not taper.
