Antique Art Glass White Opal Diamond Point Melon Optic Decorated Master Salt
What a beautiful little Master Salt this is. It is European and made ca 1890's. At well over 100 years of age it's a true Antique. Other pieces in this pattern have been found with Harrach's black numbering system on the bottom. This one is not numbered but Harrach is a possible maker. You could call it a bowl, but when they are this small they had a function and the size indicates this would be a Salt. The pattern is a Diamond Point design. The shape is a Melon Optic. It is White Opalescent and the top edge is flashed in an Amber color. It is enamel decorated with what appear to be Apple or Cherry Blossoms with branches. The Bowl measures 3 1/2" in diameter and is 2 1/4" tall. It has good early flint quality. It is in excellent condition with are no chips or cracks and no mineral deposit or stains. Some of the Gilding on the top edge is worn. Any unusual light or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare. This will make a great functional accessory to any Victorian home.
