Victorian PR Pink Satin Art Glass 1890s Japonisme Butterfly Enamel Webb Harrach
Victorian PR Pink Satin Art Glass 1890s Japonisme Butterfly Enamel Webb Harrach. The vases are characteristic of the cased pink satin art glass produced by a number of Bohemian and British glass houses during the late 19th century. I suspect these are Bohemian, circa 1890, but they are unmarked. The vases have a striking Japonisme inspired design with butterflies surrounded by stylized blossom covered vines. The cased ruffled top form shows a rich rose shading to pale pink at the ground. The enamel hand painting shows bright color, fine detail and slip petals. The vases measure 9 ¼" high, 6" wide at the handles, 5" at the top rim and 4" deep. The bases have a recessed pontil mark. BOTH vases are in excellent condition with no damage.
The hand painting is in very good condition, there is pictured loss to the foot edge gold border band. There is also a production darker vein of rose pink near the foot of one, also pictured. This charming pair would make a nice addition to your collection of Antique / Victorian Pink Satin art glass or Art Nouveau / Japonisme inspired décor. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting.
