Victorian Antique Sowerby Blue Malachite or Slag Glass Handled Basket

  

Here's a very early piece of colored Glass made by Sowerby in Gateshead England. This is a cute little handled novelty basket is unsigned and made c. It is 5" long and 2 3/4" tall. This is a type of slag glass that the company called Malachite and the color is marbleized Blue. As with any of this early glass there may be tiny areas that are rough. This basket is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks and no stains or mineral deposit. Any unusual white or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare.
