TS Victorian Rainbow Cased Spangled Clear Cased and Crested Art Glass Basket! We are listing some wonderful pieces from our own collection. This is a fabulously colored Victorian era art glass basket. The center of the bowl is rainbow colored in red, yellow, blue and white. The ruffled edge is crested with clear glass. The glass is highlighted with a spangle finish. This was done by adding mica chips to the hot glass and then applying a clear casing over the mica to prevent loss and oxidation.

It has an applied twisted clear glass handle. The base has a polished pontil. We believe this was produced around 1883 by either Hobbs Brockunier, Mt. Washington, or possible Stevens and Williams in England. Both companies began using the spangle finish around the same time.
