Beautiful Victorian Era Mary Gregory Glass Sapphire Blue Tumblers. These beautiful Mary Gregory Sapphire Blue Glass Tumblers, with vertical optic ribbing, according to the book. Robert and Deborah Truitt were most likely made by the Harrach Glassworks in the 1880's and decorated b y Julius Mühlhaus & Co. Beautifully decorated with raised white enamels, one tumbler shows a girl in the forest with a butterfly on her hand, and the other tumbler has a like scene with a boy with a butterfly on his hand. In outstanding antique condition, no chips, cracks or other issues, 4-3/4 tall. For those interested in collecting Mary Gregory glassware, I'd highly recommend picking up the following book. Truitt, Robert and Deborah Glass Concepts, 13550 Ashbury Drive, Carmel IN 46032. This 2nd edition includes all the information included in the 1st edition about the history and development of this very popular type of antique glassware.

New information refutes claims that the Hahn company of Gablonz and the Jeannette company in Pennsylvania created this decoration. There is a new section on the Mary Gregory decorations made by the Fenton Art Glass Company. The authors use 145 photos (70 in color) to describe the various styles of the paintings and the techniques used to produce them.

More than 40 of the photos are from catalogs, documenting the firms production. The decorations and the glass items are rated on a scale of 1 to 10 for quality and workmanship; showing the reader how to judge the quality and age of different items. Most of the new items included were selected to show the range of high quality glassware available. The authors conducted extensive research in Bohemia and the United States to document the sources of this glassware and to provide a guide to its relative value.
