Pair Victorian Purple and Clear Glass Organic Art Nouveau Hyacinth Bulb Vases

  

A rare pair of stunning and highly unusual Victorian bulb vases in purple and white glass. They are irregular organic shapes and although a pair they each have appear to have their own shape. The purple glass fades down into the clear glass so would have been gathered together on the blowing iron. The vases have most probably been blown into a mould - the base is heavy with no pontil.

The wide top rim has been ground down and polished on a flat bed grinder. The style is organic root like, so probably end 19th century tending to Art Nouveau. The vase on the right of the photos is in extremely good condition with very slight chips to the rim which you can feel when you run your finger around the top. These may or may not be part of the grinding down process. The vase on the left has similar very slight chips and one more definable small chip to the rim. See bottom section of last photo.
