It is unusual and entirely crafted from hair as a lasting memento of a lost loved one. Set under a large domed convex glass and housed within an ebonized wooden frame with brass surround. In overall good antique condition with some wear to the wooden frame. This beautiful piece was created in memory of a woman born on October 4, 1828, married on November 19, 1846 and died on January 9, 1890. His initials are inscribed in an oval with his photograph below.This item was have been a keepsake intended to exist throughout a lifetime, much the same as a photograph today would be.
